Tobacco Grading

By Lynette Simango

Did you know to achieve uniform grading of tobacco, you don’t have to wait until your tobacco is ripe? The selection starts way before you plant. Shocking isn’t it? But here is what you need to do.

Make sure you have uniform soil types and also when it comes to land preparation, uniform ploughing and tilth preparation gives a more uniform crop. Uniformity of fertilizer application will also help to produce uniform seedlings and hence a uniform crop. Pay attention to seedling selection process because evenness of seedlings will also give a more uniform crop.
