Moringa In Small Scale Farming
- Moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) is a very useful multipurpose and environmentally friendly plant which is very promising in the fields of soil and plant management, water treatment as well as animal and poultry production. It can be used
- Effectively as a natural bio pesticide and inhibitor of several plant pathogens. Therefore it can be included in integrated pest management strategies. One of the most important characteristics of moringa is that it has high biological and nutritional values and can be used as animal feed, green fertilizer, medicine, bio pesticide and in seed production. This is because of its high content in protein, carotenoids, several minerals and vitamins (iron, ascorbic acid) as well as certain phytochemicals (kaempferol, rhamnetin, quercetin)
Aloe vera In Small Scale Farming
- Aloe vera, commonly known as a Wonder Plant or a Miracle Plant due to its diversity in agricultural systems, is increasingly getting known as:
- A very good natural fertilizer and pesticide which can be used for enhancing root development, cell strength and overall plant vitality. The components of this plant (which is very easy to grow) incorporate the natural Phytochemicals and Polysaccharides which are necessary for plants to add important nutrients for the fertility of the soil particles. Higher fertility simply means higher or greater yield for the farmer. Another ingredient in Aloe vera also acts as an ideal “carrier” for the microbes that add utility towards the soil. This later provides the plant with a very efficient stimulation. To add to this, its tough nature of leaves protect against numerous infecting microbes and pests. Just like the Moringa plant, Aloe vera is also very easy to grow and requires less water and maintenance.
