Getting Creative in Farming (Part 1)

By Lynette Simango

As a farmer you need to think outside the box if you want to be successful. Did you know you can make use of pots in your greenhouse if your farm sits on a wetland? It might be difficult for you to actual practice farming on that land due to poor drainage but that land shouldn’t go to waste. Greenhouse pots make it easier for you to grow your tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers without any effects from the wetland. Another advantage of this method is that since you are not allowed to do a follow-up crop of the same family on the same piece of land (eg growing squashes after cucumbers), this method of farming actually allows you to do that because all you need to do is to simply empty the pots and put fresh (new) soil. Interesting isn’t it?
